BoxCryptor for Windows 8 App is now available in the Windows store

After lots of energy and hard work, we are very happy to announce that the new BoxCryptor for Windows 8 app is available in the Windows store today! We had been eagerly waiting the last couple of days for the approval to be on the Windows store and today we can finally share the news! For SkyDrive users this is an easy way to access their encrypted files in SkyDrive and use Microsoft’s storage provider without sacrificing any safety and comfort even on upcoming Windows tablets.

As some of you already know, on the Windows 8 some programs are installed by default, among others Microsoft SkyDrive. As the amount of Windows 8 and SkyDrive users will increase in the next months, subjects such as security concerns and data privacy in cloud storage services one will continue to rise. BoxCryptor will be the solution to these concerns giving the Microsoft SkyDrive users the ability to encrypt files with the highest security standards in a quick and easy way.

Our app gives you the possibility to download, decrypt and open your encrypted files stored in SkyDrive with a complete new user experience. It is available for free in the Windows store and can also be installed and used on Microsoft’s tablet “Surface” or any other tablet with Windows RT.

Please be aware that this is an Alpha version which we wanted to share with you as soon as possible so that we can listen to your feedback for its future development. It is not feature-complete and you may experience some glitches here and there. The current version only supports read access and decrypts only files stored in Microsoft SkyDrive, nevertheless more features such as write access or connection to other providers (e.g. Dropbox or Google Drive) are currently being developed.
