Two new members joined the BoxCryptor team today: David & Alexander

We are very, very happy to announce two new members in our BoxCryptor team:

David just arrived today morning on his fancy longboard. He studies mathematics and philosophy at the university of Augsburg. He will support us in developing new key management system. In his off-line life he’s father of two sweet children and a coffee geek. Besides this he’s an outdoor guy, playing with anything that helps him going fast.

Our second new member is Alexander:

Alexander is currently doing his Master in Computer Science and Information Economics at the University of Augsburg. His main responsibility will be the iOS-App for your iPhone or iPad. So if your iOS app gets a real boost after the next update, he is the one to thank for.

When not sitting in front of the computer and coding new apps or other programs he loves to walk around with his camera or cooking with and for friends.

Securely use and encrypt Google Drive on your Android device (Beta)

One week after its launch, Google Drive seems to be a great cloud storage solution. But when using Google Drive, it is a great risk to the privacy and data security of your files – it’s ‘A toxic brew’.

After being able to encrypt your Google Drive with BoxCryptor for Windows, you can now also access your encrypted files in Google Drive on your Android device! We have just pushed a new version of BoxCryptor for Android to the Google Play Store which comes with support for Google Drive! Simply grant BoxCryptor for Android access to your Google Drive/Docs files by connecting it with Google Drive. Then you can access and store encrypted files in Google Drive just as you did before with Dropbox.

In order to support Google Drive, BoxCryptor for Android needs to request the new permission “Your accounts”. This allows to retrieve your Google account information when – and only when – connecting to Google Drive. BoxCryptor for Android will not access this information at any other time. Also, please note that Google Drive support is in beta for the beginning. If you should encounter any problem, please contact us in the forums or submit a ticket.

Get BoxCryptor for Android v1.2.1 in the Google Play Store or scan this QR-code:

PS: Of course, we also plan to support Google Drive on BoxCryptor for iOS as soon as possible.
